Every viewer gets their own paper

Newspaper clippings with torn edges, index cards with a red header line and torn notebook scraps, each in its own ink. Every chatter keeps the same paper, and every paper is only as wide as its message.

Deleted? Lost to madness.

When a mod removes a message, the investigator loses it: the letters shiver, mad scrawls are written over the paper, everything is crossed out, then the string snaps and the paper is torn off the wall. Write your own scrawls and the note left behind, or leave them empty.

Every alert pins new evidence

Follows, subs, resubs, gifted subs, gift bombs, raids, cheers and tips each pin a manila case card with its own little scene: an old photo that develops, a rubber stamp, a moon calendar, a sealed envelope, a circle of candles, wet footprints from the sea, a crystal and a pencil rubbing of a coin. Each one has its own switch, headline and text.

Fits every stream layout

Left or right, new messages on top or at the bottom, four 3D styles or a horizontal bottom bar. The chat fills the box you draw, and every paper stays as wide as its message.

Lively or calm, your choice

Pin on is the original: the paper swings onto its pin and the string draws over. Want a quieter chat? Pick Soft fade and switch off the three idle animations: the swaying paper, the trembling string and the living evidence.

FAQ

Questions before you download

Is Red String Chat really free?

Yes. You can use it on the streams and videos of your own channels at no cost. There is no sign up, no email form and no payment step. The button downloads the ZIP straight away.

What do I need to use it?

A free StreamElements account and streaming software that supports browser sources, such as OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop. You do not need to write any code.

Does it work with Twitch and YouTube?

Yes. Red String Chat reads Twitch and YouTube chat through StreamElements, including Twitch, BTTV, FFZ and 7TV emotes.

Can I change how it looks?

Yes. In the StreamElements settings you choose the side, message direction, 3D style, arrival animation, name colors, role labels and every event text. The red string and the red pencil circles can be switched off, and you can rename or translate all labels.

Can I make it calmer?

Pick the Soft fade arrival animation and switch off the swaying paper, the trembling string and the living evidence. For deleted messages you can empty the mad scrawls and the note left behind.

May I share the widget with friends?

Please share the link to this page instead of the files. That way everyone gets the latest version. Selling the files or uploading them elsewhere is not allowed.
